It’s official: The United Media Guild represents newsroom employees at the Rockford Register Star and Freeport Journal-Standard.
Certification came last week from National Labor Relations Board, which supervised the successful representation election. Now the UMG is eager to begin negotiations for a first collective bargaining agreement.
Bill Corey, president of Rockford United Labor, pledged his group’s support for this quest. UMG business representative Shannon Duffy recently met with Corey and other Rockford labor leaders to describe the community campaign we will launch in the region to support our efforts at the bargaining table.
Rockford United Labor represents over 10,000 members of over 40 local unions in the region.
